Job Description
Position Summary:
The Dispatcher at Sunrise Sanitation Services Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our daily service routes. This position is responsible for reviewing and managing work orders optimizing routes maintaining inventory and supporting both field and office teams to deliver exceptional service to our customers. The Dispatcher will also collaborate with IT Recycling Sales and Customer Service departments to ensure seamless operations across all service lines.
Key Responsibilities:
Work Order Management:
- Review audit and close all work orders from the previous day. Carry over swap or adjust work orders as needed. Ensure all work orders contain accurate charges fees service levels and supporting data. Approve work orders for billing and ensure timely submission for invoicing.
Active Dispatch & Customer Service Support:
- Work closely with the Customer Service team to answer route questions and provide timely updates to customers and staff. Handle active dispatch work orders throughout the day including new pickups removals deliveries and container rotations. Ensure all service requests are addressed promptly and accurately.
Route Optimization:
- Monitor the health and efficiency of all service routes daily. Optimize routes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. Work closely with drivers and IT to ensure routes are flowing efficiently and to evaluate potential software solutions for route management.
Inventory Management:
- Track and manage inventory ensuring all containers and boxes are properly numbered and accounted for. Schedule repairs and orders to maintain inventory throughout changing operational demands.
Technology & Reporting Support:
- Collaborate with IT to resolve driver technology issues including tablets ECM readers and other in-truck technology. Serve as a power user of Samsara and other fleet management software to ensure driver safety and compliance. Report discrepancies and technology issues to IT and assist with accurate reporting for landfill reconciliation and other operational needs.
Recycling & Sales Coordination:
- Collaborate with the Shred Recycling and Junk Busters teams on scheduling jobs and managing service timelines. Coordinate with mills and semi-drivers for direct pickups and deliveries of recycling materials and tire trailers. Assist with creating bills of lading for pickups and deliveries. Support the Sales Department and Junk Busters with inventory paperwork and scheduling to ensure smooth coordination across departments.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Serve as a key point of contact between drivers IT Sales Recycling and Customer Service departments. Ensure all teams have the information and support needed for smooth daily operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in logistics business or related fields preferred.
- Prior experience in dispatch logistics or waste management is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient with technology including route optimization software tablets Samsara Navusoft Compology and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and solve problems quickly and effectively.
Work Environment:
This position is based in the Sunrise Sanitation Services Inc. office and requires frequent communication with drivers IT Customer Service and other departments. Occasional field visits may be required.

Work Hours
This is a full-time position scheduled from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
