The Division
The Community Services Division (CSD) empowers and supports residents schools and local organizations to make the city more livable safe and clean. CSD is comprised of three core service program areas - BeautifySJ Grantmaking for Community Impact and Youth Intervention Services. Overseen by a Deputy Director and two Division Managers there are 161 full-time equivalent employees and an operating budget of approximately $54 million along with various sources including State Federal and other special funds. Currently the Department is recruiting for one overstrength Senior Analyst for the Grantmaking for Community Impact Program.
The PRNS Departments Community Services Division is seeking to fill one (1) overstrength Senior Analyst position in the Grantmaking for Community Impact Team.
The salary ranges for the Senior Analyst classification is $118460.16-$144318.72.
The salary range include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual classification and salary shall be determined by the final candidates qualifications and experience.
This is a temporary (overstrength) position that is anticipated to be funded through June 30th 2026 subject to further extension as appropriate. Grantmaking for Community ImpactThe Senior Analyst position is responsible for evaluating the Departments Youth Intervention Services (YIS) programs and the Bringing Everyones Strengths Together (BEST) Grant Programs. The position will also provide oversight of the Opioid Overdose Grant Program which aims toprovide education programs aimed at mitigating opioid abuse.
Youth Intervention Services
Safe Schools Campus Initiative (SSCI)is a partnership between the City of San Jos San Jos Police Department local school districts and Santa Clara County Department of Probation.
Through SSCI staff coordinate a crisis response and communication protocol aimed at preventing andde escalatingviolent incidents on and around school campuses. The SSCI teams are activated approximately 450 times per year by schools.
Female Intervention Teamprovides services to female identifying youth ages 11-24 who have been impacted by the justice system attended alternative schools and/ or have been referred to the Female Intervention Team to participate in programs and services. The team provides specialized gender responsive trauma-informed case management services. It also provides cognitive groups in schools utilizing an education curriculum informed by and addressing issues specific to girls and young women.
The Clean Slate Tattoo RemovalProgram in partnership with Santa Clara County Valley Medical Center serves youth and young adults 12 to 24 years old who have found tattoos to be a barrier to furthering their education and employment.
The program removes participants visible tattoos in the following areas: hands wrist neck and face.
SJ Works in partnership with W2Future creates meaningful youth employment opportunities to help youth build towards college and careers. The program brings together community-based employers City departments and private sector partners allowing youth to gain work experience to build a resume.

Bringing Everyones Strengths Together (BEST) Grants which support the efforts of the San Jose Youth Empowerment Alliance (SJYEA).This program funds non-profit faith-based and community-based organizations that provide programs and services aimed at preventing youth violence.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large or mid-size city in parks recreation community or neighborhood services; experience in urban recreation; demonstrated experience in compassionate response to vulnerable populations residents experiencing homelessness and vulnerable youth and adults. The candidate should have knowledge of performance management and evaluating programs as well as and have experience in project management and strategic planning. Ideally the candidate will possess a large breadth of prior responsibility in recreation and community services and have experience with a broad range of programs. The ideal candidate will also be someone who can inspire a fun workplace and is a champion of the principles of racial equity.
