The Role This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract
A Melbourne Based Role Please Only Apply If You Currently Live In Melbourne Australia. This is not a remote role.
The position will be a key resource in the development of a new data warehouse built on Snowflake. The main focus of the role is to assist in the development of data pipelines from multiple sources subsequent data transformation into models for data analysis and reporting using dbt. Also support of the data infrastructure to ensure stability and availability of the data platform will also be a part of the role.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities
- Working with others in the MDA National Data Team and external Project resources you will be involved in the development of a Snowflake Data and Analytics platform. Working with the MDA National Data Engineer you will be involved in the ongoing maintenance and support of the infrastructure.
- Working with Data and Reporting Analysts you will develop enhance and support Data Models that provide easy access and interaction with data
- Development of SQL queries scripts and data audits as required
- Working within the MDA National DevOps Framework.
Skills Experience and Qualifications
- 2 years experience using Snowflake
- Experience in data transformation using dbt
- Experience in data pipelines using Azure Data Factory
- Excellent SQL Query and Scripting skills
- Experience in reporting tools that provide data visualisation would be an advantage preferably Power BI
- Experience in working co-operatively with business stakeholders to define requirements
- Experience in data governance activities
- Experience in version control management and DevOps (e.g. TFS Git Azure DevOps)
- Experience in deploying data products in cloud-based environments
- Self-motivated pro-active and can-do approach takes ownership of work and is accountable for results
- Ability to work in a continuous delivery environment
- Demonstrates a Growth mindset
- Ability to analyse and solve problems
- Ability to work cooperatively with other members of a team and organisation across organisational boundaries towards a common end goal
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience in the insurance industry is desirable
