Amazon Prime is looking for an ambitious Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to help create data pipelines and data insights for world-wide Prime. Prime is Amazons premiere membership program with over 200M members world-wide. This role is at the center of many major company decisions that impact Amazons customers. These decisions span a variety of industries each reflecting the diversity of Prime benefits. These range from fast-free e-commerce shipping digital content (e.g. exclusive streaming video music gaming photos) and grocery offerings. Prime Science creates insights that power these decisions.
As an BIE in this role you will will work closely with a team of applied scientists economists data/software engineers and product managers. You will help build data solutions that support statistical and econometric modeling. This modeling is used to allocate company-wide Financials as well as to evaluate large-scale investments intended to make Prime better. This person will serve as the front line of creating data pipelines visualizing our data and bringing its insights to life. This includes both input data as well as model output data. A person in this role will learn state-of-the-art approaches to causal and counterfactual statistical modeling as well as how to extract relevant insights from data. They will also partner with our data and software engineering teams to create industry-leading artificially-intelligent software tools. These tools maximize the productivity of human business professionals and internal company systems. We expect the visualization outputs produced by a BI engineer in this role to be consumed by company-wide leadership. They will serve as an input to a broad set of strategic discussions for the company. The role is unique in its exposure to senior-level business professionals scientists and engineers.
As a BI engineer you will be expected to use platforms like Amazon Redshift and Spark to build SQL queries model metadata build reports and dashboards and create visualizations using tools like Amazon Quicksight or Tableau. You will also connect these visualizations to software tools designed by the broader engineering team. Your ETL designs and mappings will be efficient flexible extensible and scalable. Finally you will provide technical leadership and mentoring for BI engineers across Amazon Prime.
- 3 years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift Oracle NoSQL etc. experience - Experience with data modeling warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience with data visualization using Tableau Quicksight or similar tools - Experience writing complex SQL queries - Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2 DynamoDB S3 and Redshift - Experience in data mining ETL etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale complex datasets
