Job Description
Weston is seeking to hire Learning Assistants to provide academic social and behavioral support to students in collaboration with the classroom teachers at Weston Middle and High School. These are regular roles 7 hours per day (6.5 a 30 minute unpaid lunch) Monday-Friday (excluding 7 early release days) when school is in session (180 days with students and 4 professional development days over a full school year) reporting to the School Principals and the Special Education Department Head. About the Weston Public SchoolsThe Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12 a middle school for grades 6-8 an upper elementary school for grades 4-5 and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967 Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 167 students (K-12).

- Use appropriate applied behavior teaching communication and reinforcement techniques consistently
- Complete all required documentation and data collection
- Provide individual and small group instruction
- Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding individual student needs interests and abilities
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree
- Teaching experience preferred ideally in a diverse public school setting
- Experience working with students with special needs behavior background preferred
- Competent with technology including Microsoft Office Google Suite and Zoom
Learning Assistants will earn between $27.18 - $33.25 per hour (dependent on relevant experience). Additionally the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System.
