Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented In Vivo Research Associate to support preclinical neuroscience studies through specialized rodent procedures including CNS-targeted surgeries and drug delivery techniques. This role is hands-on and highly technical involving stereotaxic surgery tissue dissection and injection methods such as ICV and IT with a strong emphasis on precision animal welfare and accurate data documentation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rodent surgical and technical procedures including intravenous (IV) subcutaneous (SC) intraperitoneal (IP) intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intrathecal (IT) injections.
  • Perform precise stereotaxic and microsurgical procedures targeting the central nervous system (CNS).
  • Dissect CNS and peripheral tissues with accuracy and care for downstream analysis.
  • Carry out blood collection and processing including centrifugation of whole blood and plasma isolation via pipetting.
  • Troubleshoot optimize and refine in vivo techniques according to protocol requirements.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of experimental procedures and results in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) preferably Benchling.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team-oriented research environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with institutional animal care and use policies standard operating procedures and best laboratory practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent use of fine motor skills and steady hand-eye coordination for detailed surgical procedures.
  • Regular repetitive motion involving hands wrists and arms.
  • Ability to walk between research buildings climb stairs and transport laboratory materials and supplies as needed.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Neuroscience Biology or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience in in vivo pharmacology.
  • Masters Degree (M.S.) in Neuroscience Biology or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in in vivo pharmacology.
    • Proven skill and proficiency in microscopic CNS surgery and fine CNS dissection techniques with the ability to validate these skills following established protocols.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory animal research environment within the industry.
  • Experienced in rodent dosing techniques including intravenous (IV) subcutaneous (SC) and intraperitoneal (IP) administration.
  • Proficient in stereotactic injections with demonstrated validation against established protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of brain and spinal cord anatomy.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entry preferably using Benchling.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail independence accountability and responsibility for own work.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain good documentation practices.
  • Commitment to safety and strict adherence to animal welfare policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restrictions or sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing intracerebroventricular (ICV) injections in mice and intrathecal (IT) injections in rats.
  • Familiarity with neuroscience-relevant in vivo models and assays supporting drug discovery programs.
  • Strong interest in expanding scientific knowledge and developing surgical and technical skills related to CNS research.

Additional Details: 

This is a full-time onsite position based on a first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM) with occasional weekends and overtime required as needed. Candidates located within a commutable distance to Boston MA are strongly encouraged to apply.
