Central Communications is a twenty-four hour seven-day a week operation which serves as the primary receiving station for incidents occurring on NYC Parks properties throughout the City of New York. The division is responsible for the monitoring of the NYC Parks talkgroups on the City-wide Radio Network sending out day-to-day operational notifications as well as aiding NYC Parks field personnel.
Major Responsibilities
- Under general direction with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment perform very responsible work supervising the Agencys 24-hour 7 days a week communication center.
- Assist the Director in overall supervision and maintenance of Central Communications.
- Oversee and/or assist with scheduling of around-the-clock operations including tour supervision. Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained on tours.
- Recruit train supervise and evaluate staff.
- Serve as a liaison with other city agencies including but not limited to New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) New York Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
- Coordinate communications at major special events via a mobile command center.
- Oversee budget/purchasing track funds and work with vendors providing contractual services.
- Attend meetings prepare reports and research and submit proposals for technological advances in radio communications alarm systems and computer software.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
