Were seeking an Interim Payroll Specialist to join a payroll team in York temporarily for a period of around 6-9 months to help support a busy period in the payroll team whilst a permanent recruitment process takes place. A salary of circa 50000 is available for the right individual with some hybrid working (circa 2-3 days working from home). This role will likely be 5 days a week with some flexibility to suit the individual and business needs.
As Interim Payroll Specialist youll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processes working closely with the team to support the business with essential payroll tasks. Although you will be part of a Payroll Team you will be working autonomously and to your own initiative.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Payroll pension and benefits processing.
- Complex calculations of standing data and variable pay such as SMP overtime occupational & statutory sick pay leavers & starters.
- Compiling and analysing payroll reports reconciliation packs and management information.
- 3rd party payments and journal production.
- Dealing with pay and benefit queries
To be successful in this Interim Payroll Specialist role you will ideally have:
- Proven ability and experience of running an effective in-house payroll service using payroll systems.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent administration and organisational skills.
- Must be able to work to tight deadlines with strong accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- Confident with best practice processes.
We would be keen to speak with individuals who are currently in a Payroll Officer or Payroll Manager role or a Payroll Team Leader or Payroll Supervisor with some leadership experience.
Based in York this role is commutable from Malton York Leeds and nearby surrounding areas with parking available on-site as well as good public transport routes.
