THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION ENDING SEPTEMBER 2028.

The Pima County Health Department Women Infants and Children (WIC) program is seeking a motivated and team-orientated IBCLC to join our team. This part-time position serves as a lead staff who provides specialized breastfeeding education to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers enrolled in the Arizona Supplemental WIC this role you will also assists breastfeeding peer counselors with cases that extend beyond their scope of work. The ideal candidate will possess IBCLC credentials or certification excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills. Essential Functions:


As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. Work assignments may vary depending on the departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

  • Coordinates program activities timelines and resources to ensure efficient execution;

  • Collaborates with program managers to develop and maintain project plans and work closely to meet program goals and objectives;

  • Tracks program progress milestones and deliverables including grant contracts;

  • Collects organizes and analyzes data related to program performance outcomes and impact;

  • Assists in developing data collection tools surveys and assessment instruments;

  • Supports community outreach efforts and participates in public health education and awareness activities;

  • Leads community engagement efforts including outreach needs assessments and partnership development;

  • Assists in budget management expense tracking and procurement activities;

  • Identifies areas for program improvement and assists in implementing corrective actions;

  • May supervise support staff and execute performance plans and individual development plans.


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration public administration public health healthcare administration or a related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND two years of experience coordinating monitoring and/or administering public health program activities or providing administrative support for a program or specialized work unit.

(Relevant professional level experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

OR:

Four years of experience with Pima County in Public Health Policy Analyst I Public Health Educator I or II Public Health Navigator Public Health Program Specialist or related professional administrative or public health program classifications as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

  • Current certification as an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

  • Minimum six (6) months experience supporting breastfeeding dyads.

  • Minimum six (6) months experience in a maternal/child or clinical setting including the Women Infants and Children (WIC) program.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information:

Licenses and Certificates:This position requires a current certification as an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at the time of appointment. Valid driver license is required at time of application. ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record.This position requires a current certification as an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at the time of recruitment/application.

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.


Physical/Sensory Requirements: Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. Constantly observes details at close range. Occasionally remains at stationary position. Occasionally moves about inside an office. Frequently operates out in the community at events and meetings.

Working Conditions: The Public Health Program Coordinator operates within a professional office setting conducting desk-based tasks and attends meetings. Regular daily attendance is an essential function for this position; however an alternative work schedule or telecommuting may be options based on the Divisions needs. This is determined by the senior leadership for the Division. This role may also participate in community events and meetings outside of the office environment.
