Palo Verde Hematology Oncology Ltd. dba Palo Verde Cancer Specialists has full time Medical Physicist position in Scottsdale Arizona.
Duties: Under direction of the radiation oncologist and lead medical physicist the medical physicist is responsible to provide the most optimal radiation therapy treatments to patients. Specific duties: Apply knowledge of physics to the development and use of medical radiation treatments devices and technologies; Work closely with oncologists radiologists and healthcare professionals to develop tailored treatment plans; Ensure equipment is operating correctly for optimal dose distribution and radiation accuracy tailored to patients clinical requirements; Conduct dose calculations and verification for all treatment plans to ensure patient safety and efficacy with patient specific review before during and after treatment; Oversee radiation safety protocols monitoring and minimizing radiation exposure to staff patients and the public; Oversee the scientific and technical aspects of all procedures; Perform and document monthly and annual QA tests on all radiation therapy machines to ensure compliance with AAPM and industry regulatory standards and optimal machine performance; Lead QA protocols for CT scanners HDR units CyberKnife and advanced radiotherapy equipment; Inspect equipment structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects; Maintain detailed records of machine performance calibration and maintenance activities; Participate in radiation safety measures and assist implementation of new technology and/or equipment; Collaborate and communicate with other staff members as needed; Serve as point of contact with external entities including equipment manufacturers and regulatory bodies to ensure equipment compliance and operational efficacy; Act as a patient advocate while providing privacy and confidentiality.
Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in Physics Medical Physics or closely related field. Completion of 2-year (24 month) accredited Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program.
