Job Description

Title: Graduate Assistant Occupational Therapy Program

Employee Classification: GS - Graduate Student - Stipend

Campus Location: Main Campus

General Summary

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Occupational Therapy (OT) Program plays a vital role in supporting the programs operations while gaining valuable leadership and professional development experience. The GA will work closely with all faculty members on a wide range of projects and initiatives that contribute to the overall success of the OT Program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting with the planning and facilitation of program events such as orientation professional development sessions and graduation celebrations.
  • Creating and distributing communications to students alumni and faculty.
  • Managing the OT Programs email account and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Designing flyers and digital materials for events announcements and reminders.
  • Developing a program-wide newsletter each semester.
  • Collecting and analyzing data via email and survey platforms to support program planning and evaluation.
  • Assisting with preparation and documentation for the Accreditation Body.
  • Organizing and maintaining OT Program spaces and inventory.
  • Demonstrating and cultivating leadership and professional behaviors aligned with entry-level occupational therapy practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

The GA is expected to work:

  • Up to 20 hours per week during the Fall and Winter semesters
  • Up to 10 hours per week during the Summer semester

Desired Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve with minimal direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools).
  • Rapid and accurate typing.
  • Familiarity with library databases and academic search tools.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing both physical and digital environments.
  • Effective time management and prioritization abilities and flexible.
