The Autonomous Robotics Center within General Motors is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future opportunities in the autonomous robotics space. In anticipation of these opportunities becoming available if you are interested in learning more about GM completing this profile will allow us to stay connected.
The Role
In this role you will be responsible for designing developing and integrating electronic systems for advanced automation and robotics applications. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to create innovative solutions that enhance the performance reliability and safety of our robotic systems.
Joining our ARC organization will provide you with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies contribute to innovation and collaborate with a diverse team of experts. You will play a key role in advancing our automation capabilities and ensuring that our electronic systems are at the forefront of the industry.
What You Will Do
- Lead and work on the design and development of robotics systems for advanced automation and manufacturing applications
- Develop and optimize algorithms for robotics perception navigation planning and controls
- Collaborate with hardware engineers software engineers and domain experts to integrate robotics systems with hardware and software components
- Develop advanced prototyping and conduct tests and evaluations to validate the performance reliability and safety of robotics systems and iterate designs based on feedback and data analysis
- Participate in design reviews provide technical insights and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.
- Work closely with robotics expert and product managers to understand user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in robotics engineering and lead and participate academic/industrial collaborations.
- Generate intellectual property document results and publish papers
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5 years of experience in designing and developing dynamic/robotics systems such as autonomous vehicle or autonomous mobile robots (AMR) OR 2 years of industry experience combined with Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Mechatronics Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of robotic kinematics dynamics and motion control.
- Experience in integrating mechanical electrical and software components and conducting testing and validations.
- Bachelors degree in Robotics Computer Science Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in the robotics or automation industry and deploying robotic systems in manufacturing environments.
- Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS/ROS2 (e.g. Nav2 MoveIt).
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in robotics.
