This is an incredibly exciting time to join our Asset Management & Maintenance (AM&M) Bus Fleet team. We have secured project approval and budget from our senior leadership team to modernize the Metrolinx Bus Fleet. With the introduction of a new fleet pending and multiple new initiatives planed over the next few years we are seeking an Engineering Analyst to join our growing Bus Fleet team. Reporting to the Senior Manager this role will allow for some hands on design work. Furthermore the successful candidate will be working with our Asset Management Team and Special Projects Team to develop new Requests for Proposals (RFPs) Technical Specifications budgets and modern analytical tools that will be used to enhance the performance and lifespan of the Metrolinx bus fleet.
What will I be doing
- Working with the Senior Manager to deliver RFPs and technical specifications. Working with multiple departments across Metrolinx building interpersonal and technical skills simultaneously.
- Learning how to build out budgets analyzing a project from all aspects. Ensuring that Metrolinx acquires and monitors these budgets efficiently. Working with the Sponsorship Teams to secure funds and presenting them to Senior Managers and Directors.
- Working with the Telematics Lead on new technologies for the current fleet. Helping to implement the collision avoidance technology monitor its effectiveness and compliance.
- Working with Field Engineers to onboard the new Diesel Bus program and ensure its smooth deployment in Fall/Winter of 2025.
- Work across all three pillars of the Bus Fleet team to develop their Engineering skill sets. Supporting the various teams with different projects.
- Prepares reports for management stating trends patterns and predictions using relevant data. Such reports communicate key facts and trends used to support effective decision-making.
- Responsible for the development of reports dashboards visual representations and supporting materials to communicate trends issues and opportunities with regards to the asset class functions and asset performance.
- Imports cleans transforms streamlines validates and models data to improve data quality and ensure data is accurate and relevant resolves issues with data collection and corrupted data through root cause analysis and supports the development of recommendations for mitigation and improvement initiatives.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Possesses strong mathematical skills to collect measure organize and analyze data.
- Working knowledge of Hexagon Infor-EAM considered an asset with experience viewing/editing work orders for equipment in need of preventive maintenance.
- Working knowledgeable in and able to deploy programming languages like SQL Oracle R MATLAB and Python or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of bus systems and inspection criteria
- Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks and Inventor
- Knowledgeable of database design development data models techniques for data mining and segmentation.
- Knowledge of data visualization software like Tableau Qlik or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes like Lean or Six Sigma
- An Engineering degree from a recognized university or any combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
