Job Description

Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing the Urgent Care Clinical Manager provides direction to Urgent Care (UC) clinical support staff to ensure compliance with CHC policies and procedures oversees clinical support staff education and provides direct patient care. The Urgent Care Clinical Manager practices collaboratively with all providers and staff in Urgent Care to provide efficient and high-quality care to Community Health Connections patients.

Essential Duties:

  • Clinical support person for UC with a focus on safety patient care and regulatory compliance to include quality of care efficiency and use of EBP.
  • Field provider questions that fall within nursing/MA scope of practice.
  • Closely collaborates with UC Manager to ensure clinical efficacy and clear communication.
  • Huddles with the team at the start of shift to prepare for the day.
  • Communicates any clinical support staff shortages with providers as well as any other important clinical information.
  • Review the volume of in-basket messages and assist in ensuring nursing completes them.
  • Ensure daily assignments have been completed such as stocking of rooms cleaning rooms etc.
  • Work on and resolve LabCorp billing inquiries. Inform Director of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer if any patterns are noted.
  • Incident reporting.
  • Education training and coaching of all new nurses and MAs in collaboration with professional development team.
  • Infection control; awareness of regulations mitigation early reporting and collaborating in resolving of infection control issues.
  • Create MA and nurse schedule.
  • Oversee MA and nurses time off requests sick time/call outs and approve timesheets coverage for clinical support staff call outs may need to step in and provide rooming coverage when necessary.
  • Reinforce attendance policies.
  • Ensure corrective actions take place when needed.
  • Prepare and conduct yearly performance reviews for MAs and nurses in collaboration with UC manager.
  • Attend weekly clinical leadership meeting &UC meeting.
  • Prepare and collaborate on team meetings with UC manager.
  • Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies in South Gardner UC.
  • Quality control and safety logs for POCTs crash carts inventory AED etc.
  • Ensure completion of staff competencies and education monthly.
  • Collaborate to adhere to incident reporting policy.
  • Assist in first report of injury to employee health nurse.
  • Local travel between Urgent Care sites.
  • Demonstrates understanding and commitment of the health center mission.
  • Demonstrates understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Personnel and Operations:

  • Demonstrates team building skills.
  • Develops and implements staffing patterns to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Directly oversees the Nursing and Medical Assistant staff.
  • Ensures timely completion of Medical Assistants annual reviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts nursing license (RN or LPN)
  • Minimum one (1) year work experience managing Urgent Care environment preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) year supervisory experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience as an LPN or RN
  • Computer skills for accurate data entry
  • AHA BLS Health Care Provider certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced Urgent Care environment.
