The Percy Hedley Foundation has three main sites providing specialist education adult day services and residential care to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall Killingworth and Jesmond.

About the Role

Are you a compassionate experienced nurse looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young adults with learning and physical disabilities We are seeking a dynamic Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at Hedleys College.

In this rewarding role youll take the lead in promoting the health medical management and wellbeing of our students aged 1625 many of whom have complex health needs. Working closely with education staff therapists families and external healthcare professionals youll ensure a holistic and person-centred approach to student care. With regularopportunities for CPDandclinical supervision the successful applicant will join theexisting nursing team within the educational services in our Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on thedevelopment and implementation of individual health care plans risk assessments and emergency protocols.
  • Administer and oversee medication including staff training and supervision for delegated clinical tasks.
  • Support withcomplex medical needssuch as gastrostomy care epilepsy management catheterisation tracheostomies.
  • Act as aclinical advisorto education staff ensuring safe inclusive practice and ongoing health education.
  • Liaise with families and multi-agency partners including GPs community nurses and allied health professionals.
  • Supportsafeguarding proceduresand contribute to EHCP reviews and transition planning.
  • Promote a positive inclusive approach tohealth and wellbeingacross the college.

About You

  • Registered Nurse (RNLD RGN) with current NMC registration.
  • Experience working with young people or adults with learning disabilities and/or complex health needs.
  • Strong clinical skills and confident in decision-making and managing risk.
  • Excellent communication teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Passionate aboutperson-centred careand inclusive education.
