Position Summary
Duties included:
- Performs all duties and responsibilities required from the Health Care Representative.
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information.
- Performs clinical office duties utilizing basic office equipment such as scanners copy machines and data entry through electronic medical records software.
- Perform or update patient insurance eligibility at initial visit and ongoing as determined by Health Care policy.
- Facilitates patient flow by communicating with the provider patient and other support staff.
- Train new Health Care Representatives mentor students and acts as an expert subject matter for all Health Care Representatives in the front office.
- Responsible for completing patient referrals collecting office visit payments and explaining financial requirements to patients.
- Collects and participates in patient quality initiatives related to patient encounters reimbursement and accuracy in first-time entry.
- Schedules and tracks patient appointments.
- Answers clinic phone calls: answer any questions that do not violate federal or state compliance and field all questions to appropriate areas of expertise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; a minimum of one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience working with an electronic health record in a medical office medical clinic or in a mental health office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-year related experience in a medical office setting.
- Call center experience with handling a multi-line phone system preferred.
- Experience in the use of word processing and database software Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems preferred.
- Knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical training.
- Good communication skills and/or customer service experience
- Experience in scheduling screening and confirming medical appointments using a computerized information system.
- Minimum 50 wpm typing.
- High school education; six months of related work experience in a medical setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma and 1 2 years of experience in customer service or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Summary of Physical Demands
Moderate physical effort and involves eye/hand coordination sitting or standing for long periods or viewing a CRT screen 26 - 75% of the time.
Summary of Health Risks
Exposure to human blood serum and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
