Job Description

Job Summary
The Liberal Arts Applied Programs Department in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for Associate Professor of Practice Aviation Program Tenure Status APT (Academic Professional Track). The Associate Professor of Practice Aviation Program is a senior professional with significant aviation industry experience who also possesses teaching capabilities. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean Liberal Arts Applied Program.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to develop implement and continuously refine an innovative curriculum that meets the evolving needs of the aviation industry and in the future ensuring the program meets applicable academic accreditation standards if applicable and the universitys gainful employment goals. Establish cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key industry leaders including airlines airports MROs cargo operators and regulatory bodies within the DFW Metroplex and beyond to gather curriculum input coordinate guest lectures internships and graduate placement. Teach undergraduate courses within the aviation curriculum. Work closely with the Liberal Arts Applied Programs Advisor to recruit a diverse and talented student body and provide academic advising and mentorship to students in the program. Work closely with the Assistant Dean of Liberal Arts Applied Programs to evaluate program faculty and staff needs as the program grows. Represent the program to external stakeholders including industry community and alumni. Assisting with fundraising efforts to support program initiatives and scholarships. Ensure compliance with university policies state and federal regulations and any relevant aviation-specific accreditation requirements. Work with the Assistant Dean of Liberal Arts to ensure operations of the program meet the universitys gainful employment goals for its students.

Required Qualifications
A masters degree in aviation management business administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution. A doctoral degree is preferred. A minimum of 15 years of significant leadership and training experience within an aviation industry organization Significant knowledge of the aviation industry including airline and airport operations aviation management principles finance safety security and regulatory environments. Proven ability to work professionally and collaboratively with senior industry leaders establish and maintain effective partnerships and engage the aviation community. Demonstrated experience in academic program development management and student recruitment. Excellent communication interpersonal and leadership skills. An enterprising spirit and the ability to build a new program from the ground up.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in aviation management business administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Experience in developing and launching new academic programs. Previous leadership experience in an academic setting. A strong network of contacts within the DFW aviation industry. Experience with Aviation Accreditation Board International ( AABI ). A record of scholarship or significant professional contributions to the aviation field.
