Manager Research Science

Job Description: 

NIQ is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Research Science to lead a high-performing cross-functional team of machine learning engineers and research scientists. In this strategic leadership role you will be responsible for guiding the development and deployment of cutting-edge AI and Generative AI solutions that power NIQs next-generation products. 

You will oversee a team of talented professionals working across research engineering and productization ensuring alignment with business goals and fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and technical excellence. Your leadership will be instrumental in transforming advanced AI research into scalable real-world applications that deliver measurable business impact. 

Responsibilities: 

• Lead and manage a cross-functional team of Engineers Data Scientists and Research Scientists. 
• Define team strategy set priorities and align AI/GenAI initiatives with broader organizational goals. 
• Oversee the full lifecycle of AI/GenAI projectsfrom research and prototyping to deployment and optimization. 
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation continuous learning and high performance. 
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members supporting their growth and development. 
• Collaborate with product managers data teams and executive stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable AI solutions. 
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality scalable and maintainable AI systems and services. 
• Promote responsible AI practices including fairness transparency and ethical considerations. 
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain NIQs leadership in AI innovation. 

Qualifications :

Qualifications: 

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Machine Learning Engineering or a related field (Ph.D. preferred). 
• 8 years of experience in AI/ML with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. 
• Proven experience leading large-scale AI projects from conception to deployment including cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management. 
• Proven experience managing cross-functional AI teams and delivering complex high-impact projects. 
• Strong technical background in machine learning deep learning NLP and generative AI (e.g. LLMs diffusion models). 
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch TensorFlow and Hugging Face Transformers. 
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) MLOps and scalable data pipelines. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 
• Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution. 
• Passion for mentoring team development and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
