Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurse

Were seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to assist with administering the delivery of medical services in our Free Health Care Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.
We serve individuals who are uninsured or underinsured and unable to meet their medical needs. Through volunteer providers we treat routine issues and identify serious problems creating treatment plans to restore health. Licensed Practical Nurse Objectives Include:
- Coordinates patient care under the direction of a RN or physician.
- Maintains schedules for the medical office which includes scheduling patients and medical providers after patient eligibility is verified; make reminder calls to both patients and providers daily; reschedule cancellations.
- Ensures that all appropriate consents (limited liability consent to treat HIPPA etc.) are up to date signed and uploaded into patients file. Ensure release of information documentation is signed and filed as appropriate.
- Reviews and updates patient medical history and health records.
- Measures patients vital signs such as pulse rate respiration blood pressure weight and height.
- Assists patients with understanding and scheduling follow up orders; FAP applications; and other testing.
- Documents all interactions with patients and volunteers in the appropriate electronic file.
- Develops and maintains relationships with referral sources healthcare system leaders and partners.
- Prepares treatment rooms for upcoming patient examinations.
- Performs various administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the medical floor including answering incoming calls scheduling patient appointments and providing appointment reminder calls to scheduled patients.
- Arranges for translation services prior to patient appointment as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality with patient personnel and Health Care Center information in accordance with HIPAA and Catholic Charities policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Licensed Practical Nurse certification is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting is required.
- Expertise with EpicCare EHR is required.
- A demonstrated history of providing excellent and compassionate patient care is required.
- Effective organizational skills are required.
- Knowledge of and the ability to speak multiple languages is preferred.
- An ability to organize and prioritize workflow processes independently is required.
- Act 33/34 and FBI clearances are required.
