The Environment Health Hygiene and Safety (EHHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure workplace safety regulatory compliance and environmental protection across the organization.

  • Location: Johnson & Johnson facilities - Gurabo Puerto Rico
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm - Flexibility to work Saturday/Sunday/Holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and executecomprehensive EHHS policies procedures and programs aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Proactively identify and mitigateworkplace hazards through regular safety inspections environmental monitoring and detailed risk assessments
  • Spearheadthorough incident investigations including detailed root cause analyses and development of effective corrective action plans
  • Ensure strict compliancewith all applicable health safety and environmental regulations through systematic monitoring and auditing processes
  • Serve as the primary technical resourceon workplace safety matters to management and employees
  • Develop and deliverengaging EHHS training programs tailored to different employee levels and job functions
  • Establish and maintaina robust documentation system for safety incidents inspections and compliance activities
  • Prepare and submitrequired regulatory reports with meticulous attention to detail and timeliness
  • Lead and coordinateemergency response planning including organizing emergency drills and evaluating response effectiveness
  • Analyze EHHS performance metricsto identify trends develop strategic improvement initiatives and measure program effectiveness
  • Advocate for and promotea strong safety culture throughout the organization
  • Additional Responsibilities: Any other duties as required by business needs and the nature of the position

Environmental Conditions

  • Work is performed in various environments including office settings industrial facilities construction sites and outdoor locations
  • May be exposed to high noise levels dust fumes chemicals and other potential workplace hazards during inspections and assessments
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting certain areas
  • May occasionally work in adverse weather conditions during outdoor inspections or emergency response situations
  • Potential exposure to high-stress situations during incident investigations or emergency responses
  • May need to work in confined spaces at heights or around operating machinery when conducting evaluations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to access various work environments including office industrial and field settings
  • May require occasional travel to different facility locations
  • Capability to respond to emergencies and incidents as needed

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science Industrial Hygiene or a related field
  • OSHA 30-hrs general industry or construction is required
  • 3-5 years of experience in health safety and environmental management
  • Strong Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Strong Skills in Revising Developing and Implementing JHAs EHS-Related Procedures and Investigations
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (OSHA EPA etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced English skills both written and oral
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence and drive cultural change across diverse teams
  • Proficient with safety management software and data analysis tools
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CSP CIH or CHMM preferred
