At NEXT we have a great opportunity for an analyst to join our growing Credit and Risk team as a Senior Credit Risk Analyst. NEXT is one of the biggest retailers in the UK and over 40% of customers who shop online with us do so using one of our own branded credit accounts. The Credit and Risk team are responsible for analysing all aspects of this lending which covers 3 million customers with a total of 1.3B outstandings using data to drive insight on how we can optimise our customer proposition and business profit. Youll be at the heart of understanding our credit customers and designing testing and implementing strategy changes to help support growing our business.

About the role:

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who has experience in analysing data particularly in a consumer credit context and is looking to take the next step in their career. Our Credit Risk Analysts at NEXT get to work on strategy projects end-to-end from inception through to partnering with other teams around the business to get their proposals into market. Youll need to be the kind of person who has a real curiosity about data and customer behaviours and enjoy getting stuck into complex problems and analysing data using industry standard tools such as SQL or Python to deliver great solutions for our customers.

The role affords significant flexible working with the need to be in the office a minimum of 1 day per week.

You will:

  • Produce regular reporting and carry out ad hoc analyses. Comment on trends adding value through contributing ideas and solutions to any problems or opportunities identified.
  • Identify risks and opportunities in the current processes and rules through complex analysis using multiple data sources.
  • Lead on projects to deliver suitable customer management strategies working with teams around the business. Serving as the expert on credit risk and data while best representing the commercial value and regulatory aspects of lending activity.
  • Build and present reporting and strategy recommendations relating to credit & risk at internal and external meetings where required.

About you:

  • You will have a minimum of 3 years experience of working in an analyst position (ideally in consumer lending / financial services with knowledge of customer management strategies). Experience in credit limit management and/or NPV modelling would be advantageous.
  • You will be a natural problem solver and enjoy working logically.
  • You will have an eye for detail and the drive to get under the skin of complex business challenges joining the dots across multiple sources of insight.
  • You will enjoy working with a diverse multi-discipline team to deliver results at pace.
  • You will have experience of working with SQL or Databricks Python is a bonus.
  • You will have strong verbal and written communication skills to most effectively present your insights and gain buy-in to implement change.
