The Criminal Division of the Palmer Trial Court is accepting applications for a Court Supervisor 3 (salary range 14) to provide direct supervision over the Criminal / Minor Offense Divisions. Under the general direction of the Clerk of Court the incumbent will provide supervisory technical and training support to non-judicial staff at the Palmer Trial Court.


Personnel rules will be applied to determine step placement for the successful internal candidate.


THIS POSITION
You will provide leadership and support to employees; prepare time and attendance reports; performance evaluations and development plans; plan assign and direct the work of division staff; prepare recruitment requisitions screening criteria and interview questions in consultation with HR; review job bulletins schedule and conduct interviews perform reference checks and provide offers to applicants. You will also develop training and orientation tools for employees to ensure proficiency monitor and document the progress of employees and conduct regular meetings with employees.


Additionally you will provide guidance and training to employees regarding technical work within the department. You will oversee the management of criminal case files including opening and closing cases docketing routing paperwork to files distribution deficiency notices and data entry quality. You will ensure Administrative Codes Statutes Court Rules and court procedures are correctly followed by department staff; oversee the transfer of bail money and distribution of funds; work with the public state agencies attorneys judges and other court personnel on criminal related questions; and occasional back up for in-courting; other duties as assigned by the Clerk of Court.


What hours will you work
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of legal office clerical work experience.
OR
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND four years of office clerical work experience.
OR
A bachelors degree in any field from an accredited college.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary paralegal or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical work experience on a month-for-month basis.

NOTE:
Legal office clerical work experience includes service such as a Court Case Manager 1 Court Case Manager 2 or Chambers Judicial Assistant with the Alaska Court System or work in a public or private sector law office requiring the review and processing of legal documents.

EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degree Obtained field. Copies of academic transcripts will be required at time of interview.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately we cannot always interview all applicants.
