Packaging Engineer Food & Beverage Industry

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer with a strong background in the food and beverage industry. This onsite role involves collaborating with a variety of clients to solve packaging challenges optimize packaging systems and support capital equipment implementation. The position focuses on both primary and secondary packaging load optimization and packaging validation across the supply chain.
Responsibilities:

Analyze packaging-related issues and determine root causes

Develop innovative cost-effective packaging solutions

Lead packaging development projects from concept to implementation

Conduct testing using ISTA and custom protocols

Create and maintain packaging specifications and documentation
-
Coordinate technical qualifications with co-packers and suppliers

Perform cost analysis including material labor and logistics impacts

Communicate effectively with domestic and international clients

Ensure packaging designs meet product protection shelf-life and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering or related field

5 years of experience in food packaging
-
In-depth knowledge of packaging materials and food science interaction

Experience working with food manufacturers or CPG companies
-
Proficiency in packaging software such as TOPS or Cape
-
Strong understanding of supply chain implications of packaging decisions

Familiarity with high-speed packaging equipment and operations

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to travel up to 33% to client and supplier locations
