Overview
The Cath Lab Staff plays a crucial role in the cardiovascular department of a healthcare organization particularly in enhancing patient outcomes during catheterization procedures. Working under the supervision of cardiologists and interventional radiologists the Cath Lab Staff is responsible for assisting in a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures ranging from angiograms to stent placements. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in catheterization procedures under the guidance of physicians.
- Prepare and maintain cath lab equipment and supplies.
- Monitor patient vitals and respond to any abnormalities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of patient procedures and outcomes.
- Support patients pre and post-procedure with education and care.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to facilitate smooth operations.
- Conduct equipment checks for functionality before procedures.
- Administer medications as directed by the supervising physician.
- Prepare and assist during emergency situations within the lab.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Educate patients on cath lab processes and post-operative care.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues during procedures.
- Perform room turnover and maintain cleanliness standards.
- Document patient information accurately in medical records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Nursing or Radiologic Technology.
- Valid nursing or radiologic technician license.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a cath lab setting.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Proficiency in using cardiac catheterization equipment.
- Strong understanding of sterile techniques and infection control measures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
