The Passive Safety Homologation Specialist is the in-house regulatory requirements lead for various systems and components. This Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert for North America passive safety regulations and as the North American lead contact for global passive safety regulatory inquiries. Additionally this Specialist will lead certification strategies for key systems such as airbags seatbelt systems interior crash protection vehicle structural integrity and E-Call.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the certification strategy and execution for all passive safety systems including occupant protection crash structures interior safety components and restraint systems.
Support Engineering to ensure designs meet global passive safety regulations including FMVSS ECE GB and other international standards.
Develop and manage detailed certification plans including testing schedules documentation requirements and agency interactions.
Interface with regulatory authorities and third-party labs to secure approvals and negotiate acceptance of compliance documentation.
Stay up to date with regulatory changes and provide internal guidance to ensure future programs remain compliant.
Represent the homologation function in design reviews milestone meetings and global program discussions.
Team members are expected to establish effective working relationships founded on trust and transparency with our internal and external partners. Sound judgment excellent communication skills and the ability to drive decisions through consensus and influence change are a must.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering degree. Other Engineering degrees with combined experience will be considered.
Minimum THREE (3) years of engineering experience
Experience in systems and sub-systems with Electrical RF Chassis Exterior and interior engineering release experience.
Must have extensive knowledge of the global regulations that cover the Safety/Impact Chassis or Electrical regulations and work with and lead cross-functional teams (e.g. engineering manufacturing quality service legal witness agency and labs) to ensure successful compliance testing completion prior to defined due dates
Preferred Requirements:
Master of Science degree in Engineering
Problem Solving and Decision-Making knowledge (Kepner Trego)
Strong behavioral skills: ability to make tough decisions act with integrity keep things simple deliver as a way of life reach for discontinuity
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with difficult deadlines
Knowledge of worldwide Safety/Impact Chassis or Electrical regulations
Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills
Experience in multiple disciplines
Foreign language a plus
Additional Must Haves:
Automotive regulatory background program management and automotive testing
40% Remote 60% Onsite. They will need to report to CPG some days when they are conducting testing there OR when more convenient.
Amount of Travel: 5%.
