3 months contract with local authority
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to work with individuals of all ages who have physical disabilities including children and older adults in either a community or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conducting functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities particularly in a community setting and will also have experience in assessing complex pediatric cases. Additionally the candidate should possess a deep understanding of specialist equipment for both children and adults to promote independence as well as knowledge of health and social care legislation health and safety and risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional assessments for individuals with physical disabilities
- Assess for major adaptations to meet complex needs for both children and adults
- Make sound clinical judgments and appropriate recommendations for aids to daily living adaptations and care packages
- Deliver training and coaching to staff of various grades
- Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting
- Undertake supervisory responsibility for staff of various grades including student occupational therapists and apprentices
- Promote the role of Occupational Therapy within the workplace
- Respond positively and flexibly to changes in the workplace
- Demonstrate self-motivation time management and problem-solving skills
- Make sound decisions while working in a demanding environment
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written
- IT skills including experience with the Office package emails word and excel
- Ability to manage conflict and prioritize workload
- Physical ability to perform moving and handling of people and equipment
- Full driving license and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes
- Knowledge of Equality & Diversity issues
- Willingness to work flexible hours
