Job Description

Reporting to Minderoos Head of Legal Risk & Compliance you will actively contribute to a high-performing team and drive impact collaborating closely with 2 Focus Areas Impact Missons & other Enabler and Corporate Services teams as part of Minderoos matrix structure championing the One Minderoo Culture. Focusing where applicable on partners stakeholders and beneficiaries to develop and execute a content strategy aligned with Minderoos strategic goals.

 

As Senior Lawyer you will be responsible for advising on day-to-day legal matters and contracts for Focus Areas Impact Missions Enablers and Corporate Services and providing support on Minderoos legal and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on day-to-day legal matters for Focus Areas Impact Missions Enablers and Corporate Services and trusted counsel to other internal stakeholders in day-to-day legal matters.
  • Draft review and negotiate complex contractual documentation consistent with charity law requirements corporate policies and philosophies and appropriate to protect Minderoos interests.
  • Review and consider legislation and other regulations as they apply to Minderoos activities.
  • Assist in identifying and managing key risks to and within Minderoo including compliance with legal and appropriate corporate governance requirements and keeping up with changes in laws and requirements.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel on outsourced legal matters.
  • Supporting the management of legal regulatory compliance and operational risks through support on policies procedures and frameworks.
  • Manage disputes with third parties.
  • Provision of assistance to Minderoo-related activities as required.

Qualifications :

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Ideally 5 years post admission experience as a lawyer. 
  • Sound understanding of governance regulatory compliance and risk.
  • Sound knowledge and ability to work in a manner consistent with good ethics our values and good corporate governance.
  • Recognised expertise with ability to manage matters and clients independently.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic solutions-focused advice. Subject matter expertise 
  • Proven legal expertise including contract review and drafting general commercial advice governance and general advisory work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of charity law and regulation are desirable

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law
  • 5 years post admission experience in provision of legal services
  • Valid practising certificate
  • General legal experience in commercial areas of the law with experience in property governance charity law and regulation highly relevant
  • Proven ability to lead a team and manage senior stakeholders
