PC Specialist (4466-50) Deadline to Apply: July 5 2025 Work Location: Various County Locations Work Hours: 20-28 hours/week Pay Range: $24.41 - $32.40 hourly GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision the PC Specialist provides specialized technical support and coordination of services for all PC/LAN hardware software and mobile devices in an agency or county department and provides technical support for complex and unusual problems to determine appropriate corrective action. QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications: Associate degree in computer science/electronics; or two (2) years work experience in PC technical support with demonstrated expertise with Windows operating systems the Microsoft 365 suite and Apple Business Manager. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid state of residency drivers license. Must remain insurable under the Countys vehicle insurance policy. EQUIPMENT OPERATED: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Computer / laptop multi-function copier/scanner Apple mobile devices; and other standard modern business office equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101: - Provides technical support for The Hamilton County Engineers Office.
- Examples include basic active directory user administration end user and server support for the various systems; troubleshoots hardware and software issues PC and mobile device configuration installs upgrades anti-virus and cybersecurity strategy server administration other connectivity issues including wireless network clients.
- Offers daily operations and systems support to personnel as directed. Assist personnel with installation configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software. Verify functionality of hardware and software components.
- Other IT duties as directed.
- Resolves on-site issues; communicates with supervisor/team and may assist with networking changes.
- Uses networking principles to diagnose issues and rules out non-issues; primary administrator for pc workstation laptop and mobile device support.
- Printing problems application and software issues and file storage.
- Assume responsibility for project tasks and ensure they are completed in a timely fashion.
- Monitors annual maintenance and support programs.
- Maintains appropriate documentation of activities and updates hardware inventory.
- Oversees installation testing repairs and corrective action of other devices including but not limited to other computer peripherals and systems.
- Repair and maintenance of laptops printers operating systems or application software.
- Understand existing support agreements and the procedures currently in place to open new tickets.
- Understand and make initial diagnoses of equipment in realm of responsibility and implement proper resolution in a timely fashion.
- May assist manager with vendor coordination and management of support and system administration of network devices located in the departments.
- May assist manager with assessing the infrastructure on to ensure it continues to meet necessary demands.
- Develop new strategies and IT procedures to increase efficiency enhance workflow and improve customer satisfaction.
