We are seeking a technically skilled and dependable Assistant Chief Operating Engineer to support the Chief Operating Engineer in the daily management and maintenance of building systems and infrastructure. This role involves supervising engineering staff ensuring optimal operation of mechanical and electrical systems and maintaining compliance with safety and building regulations.
Assist in overseeing the operation maintenance and repair of HVAC electrical plumbing and life safety systems.
Monitor energy usage and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Supervise maintenance personnel contractors and vendors ensuring work quality and safety compliance.
Support the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Maintain detailed records of system performance maintenance logs and inspection reports.
Respond to and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or emergency situations.
Ensure all systems are operated in compliance with regulatory codes and internal standards.
Assist in developing operating procedures SOPs and emergency response plans.
Participate in budget planning and cost control for maintenance and operations.
Provide technical support for upgrades retrofits and capital improvement projects.
Associate or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical or Building Engineering (or equivalent experience).
35 years of hands-on experience in building operations or facilities engineering.
Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC electrical and building automation systems.
Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and CMMS platforms.
Strong leadership troubleshooting and communication skills.
Working knowledge of OSHA standards safety codes and building regulations.
Licensed or certified in one or more trades (e.g. HVAC Electrical Refrigeration).
Experience in high-rise commercial healthcare or industrial facilities.
Certifications such as LEED EPA Universal or Stationary Engineer License are a plus.
