An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Law graduate to work in a well-established and highly regarded Clinical Negligence Department on a full-time basis in our Bristol or Cardiff office.
Purpose:
You will be responsible for managing a caseload covering a variety of medical injuries through all stages of the claim. You will also be involved in assisting solicitors and paralegals as well as research and administration tasks.
Hybrid working
This role would be based in our Bristol or Cardiffoffice with a combination of home and office working (typically working 2 days in the Bristolcity centre and/or Cardiff office and 3 days from home). You would therefore need the infrastructure in place to work from home and will be provided with a company laptop.
Duties/responsibilities:
Under supervision you will manage a case load and assist others on cases;
Advise the client on the best course of action within the law;
Make informed decisions with regards to quantum/liability;
Effectively use the companys case management system;
Effectively carry out the screening of clinical negligence claims to establish prospects at the earliest opportunity and in a proportionate manner;
Participate in team meetings;
Assist solicitors and paralegals;
Undertake research and administration tasks.
Skills/Competencies required:
The successful candidate must be enthusiastic and motivated to work within clinical negligence. You need to have good organisational and communication skills especially telephone and written skills with the ability to deal sensitively with clients and professionally with experts.
You will be a team player with strong written & verbal skills. Experience of managing your own caseload would be beneficial as well as a medical background or other relevant experience.
Education Required:
You will have a law degree or equivalent experience and it would be advantageous to have completed the LPC (or equivalent) and have studied the clinical negligence elective.
