WHAT YOULL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the shipping and palletizing sections within the warehouse. This role ensures timely accurate and cost-effective shipping receiving storing and picking processes of finished goods (retail carrots natural ingredients and consumer packaged goods) supervises shipping and warehouse staff monitors appointment scheduling and inventory movement and helps maintain compliance with safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in warehouse shipping and picking processes team supervision and logistics coordination.

  • Lead motivate and develop warehouse supervisors and other team members to perform at their highest potential through effective supervision coaching and performance recognition.
  • Oversee daily team operations by managing staffing assigning tasks providing hands-on training and ensuring consistent guidance and support.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins performance appraisals and coaching sessions to support employee development and address performance concerns.
  • Promote a culture of integrity fairness and consistency by upholding company values and departmental standards.
  • Facilitate or participate in shift meetings including off-shift or weekend coverage as needed and provide leadership with timely updates on operational risks or issues.
  • Evaluate and support the continuous improvement of warehouse processes to ensure efficiency accuracy and productivity in day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics (e.g. CPC CPMH JDA data) to drive results and ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • Champion key performance areas including safety quality service efficiency and shift effectiveness within the assigned area.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal shift output and maintain high standards of work quality.
  • Actively support warehouse operations by observing floor activities and providing feedback for improving processes and workflows.
  • Organize and facilitate regular team huddles to communicate updates set expectations gather input and address challenges.
  • Enforce and model food safety practices in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Promote and support warehouse safety initiatives by ensuring staff are trained and consistently follow safety protocols and best practices.
  • Ensure timely and accurate receiving storage picking and inventory of finished goods (retail carrots natural ingredients and CPG) through clear communication and teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Professional Communication: Skilled in interacting with a diverse workforce and both internal and external customers maintaining professionalism and effective communication at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School/GED with two years experience in related field or combination of both education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management or related operational leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership to a diverse and dynamic workforce.
  • Forklift Certification required.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with email communication and general computer operations; working knowledge of standard business software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics Operations or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in warehouse logistics or distribution center operations with a focus on shipping and outbound logistics.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with experience managing large teams in high-volume environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Environmental exposure cold/wet conditions (40 or below/subzero temperatures) will work in the warehouse building and in all plants (indoor and outdoor).
  • Exposure to mechanical parts that vary from freezing to hot temperatures in excess to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Exposure to hazards such as moving machinery electrical current and chemicals.
  • Support weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Occasional sitting standing climbing bending stooping kneeling crouching crawling and stretching walking as job requires.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

HOURS & WORKDAYS:

  • 2nd Shift 4:00 pm 1:00 am. Monday through Friday when business requires before/after hours will be mandatory.
