Job Description
Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. Councils Regulatory Technical Officeris responsible for the coordination of legal and administrative functions in relation to regulatory compliance and enforcement activities for Ranger and Parking Services.
The successful applicant will require:
- Qualifications in business administration and or demonstrated industry experience ideally working in administration and/or legal support
- Demonstrated experience with the preparation review and coordination of Notices Orders and Penalty Infringement Notices specifically under the Local Government Act Protection of the Environment Operations Act NSW Road Rules 2014 and Companion Animals Act 1998
- Extensive experience in preparing affidavits / statements complying with the various Act / Regulations / Rules that govern the collection interpretation and presentation of evidence to and in a court of relevant jurisdiction
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills including the ability to provide a high standard of customer service and deal with sensitive issues in a tactful manner
- Proven ability to establish effective internal and external relationships with stakeholders
- Computer literacy including experience in data integration statistical analysis and document management systems
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement business
improvement processes - Able to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously without immediate supervision
- Current NSW Drivers Licence

About this role:
- Permanent full-time position
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
- Located at Councils Merrylands with frequent travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1631.25 to $1875.94 per week plus 12% superannuation (please note this salary range and superannuation percentage will apply from the first pay period in July 2025)
- The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role
What youll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process in accordance with Councils COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
