Job Description

Reports To: Asst. Superintendent for Secondary Leadership & Support

Duty Days: 238 Days

Wage/Hour Status:Exempt

Pay Grade: I06

Qualifications:

Masters degree

Possess Principal/Mid-Management Certification

Minimum of three years successful campus teaching experience

Minimum of three years successful administrative experience

Demonstrated ability as an instructional leader

Certified teacher appraiser

Proven leadership skills

Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage the instructional program and supervise operations at the campus level. Provide instructional leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Direct the implementation of District policies and instructional programs and manage the operation of all campus activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership to the campus advisory team.
  2. Develop informal evaluation models and implement District-wide formal evaluation models which willdetermine the effectiveness of programs.
  3. Monitor program operation and implement changes based on evaluation and other relevant information.
  4. Effectively utilize materials facilities support staff and other related resources.
  5. Oversee and maintain the physical plant and inventories.
  6. Maintain accurate and complete records of programs and projects for which he/she is responsible and punctually submit accurate reports as may be required by law District policy or administrative regulation.
  7. Establish and implement a comprehensive plan that ensures the safety of all students and staff.
  8. Oversee the implementation of the campus staffing plan including recruitment hiring and retention of highly qualified employees.
  9. Effectively administer fiscal resources and maintain appropriate and accurate records of all financial activities.
  10. Interact effectively with students to promote positive attitudes toward the school programs.
  11. Maintain a learning environment (curricular co-curricular extracurricular) that enhances the academic physical social and emotional development of students.
  12. Assist faculty and staff in identifying defining and solving instructional related problems.
  13. Utilize the instructional staff and support services (intra-district and inter-district) to maintain and improve the instructional program.
  14. Develop and implement systems which ensure high quality instruction in all content areas.
  15. Conduct instructional observations and conferences with staff that result in diagnostic and prescriptive feedback for growth and improved performance.
  16. Facilitate professional learning including in-service activities workshops and support materials.
  17. Implement a discipline management system that produces a productive campus environment.
  18. Identify involve and motivate staff appropriate to task.
  19. Exhibit and encourage high professional and ethical standards.
  20. Effectively support communicate and interpret District goals policies procedures.
  21. Analyze student performance data to make decisions related to the instructional program and student interventions.
  22. Develop and implement professional learning community processes to support learning for all students and staff.
  23. Monitor the planning of effective lessons and teacher use of strategies to engage student learners.
  24. Develop the talents of staff members to assume campus and district leadership roles.
  25. Collaborate with other principals to develop common practices as principals.
  26. Demonstrate professional interactions and support for collaborative decision making.
  27. Professionally communicate and interpret school goals Board policies administrative proceduresand TEA regulations to various publics .
  28. Maintain a positive image of the school by involving community members and agencies in a supportive role and by attending school functions.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer printer copier and fax machine

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
