Special Education Program Coach
Qualification Requirements:
- Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education.
- Must hold a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with an endorsement in special education or collaborative education.
- Three or more years experience working with the special education programs at the district level is preferred.
- A valid Alabama Professional Leadership Certificate is preferred.
- Valid Alabama driver license reliable transportation and evidence of insurance.
- Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of an assigned task.
- Must meet the suitability criteria for employment as required by the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act no. 2002-457.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Background Check Required: (HB 402 ACT 99-361 AL Legislature) Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Reports to: Director of Special Programs and Special Education Coordinator
Job Goal: To support and improve the quality of instruction and services for students with disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applicable to All Employees:
- Attend on a general and predictable basis

- Work in a cooperative manner with students teachers staff supervisors parents and the public
- Work effectively under time and productivity standards
Essential Job Functions:
- Model mentor and support general education teachers special education teachers and paraprofessionals in their efforts to assist students facing learning challenges.
- Focus on identifying defined responsibilities in co-teaching classrooms to maximize the use of instructional time.
- Collaborate with administrators teachers paraprofessionals and related service providers to intentionally allocate resources to effectively address learning targets.
- Develop and assist in reviewing behavior intervention plans provide training on these plans and monitor their implementation through fidelity checks.
- Educate faculty and staff on maintaining data and documentation regarding student progress.
- Work together with school personnel agencies and families to coordinate services effectively.
- Complete all reporting requirements as mandated by district state federal and educational agencies.
- Collaboratively collect and summarize data with teachers and staff offering recommendations for adjustments to plans or programs based on findings.
- Assist in crisis intervention and prevention as needed.
- Provide on-going training and constructive feedback to teachers
- Communicate administrators on progress of coaching cycles mentoring and the use of allocated resources
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments and use data to develop behavior intervention plans.
- Offer professional development focusing on co-teaching strategies and assist in lesson planning to incorporate these strategies.
- Assist special education teachers with organizational ideas to ensure they meet deadlines
- Conduct coaching cycles with teachers to ensure the delivery of specially designed instruction while also identifying appropriate programs to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Review documentation and maintain records of the reviews conducted.
- Administer a variety of evaluation to students for purpose of gathering additional information and/or determining eligibility status
- Promote good public relations for schools and the school system with the public.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Adhere to the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
- Maintains professional work habits.
- Plans facilitates and/or participates in training as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education Programs

Employment: This is an 11 month contract (220 days) . Based on the board approved salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.
