Position Summary:

The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for the ongoing management of relationships to assist Bankers in realizing efficiencies quality of the process and product retention and expansion of banking relationships consistent with the goals and objectives for growth credit quality and rates of return. In collaboration and support of Bankers supported this position is responsible for collecting examining and evaluating information with recommendations to the respective Bankers as to the general creditworthiness and merits of credit requests from existing and prospective customers. This position provides administrative and credit analysis support at times liaising with other departments to complete tasks as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the management of loans after closing including monitoring reviewing and extending loans. They may also identify potential risks recommend risk ratings and prepare reports for the board.
  • Creates and manages investment strategies and processes to meet client goals. They may also conduct due diligence on investment managers monitor their performance and recommend new managers.
  • Manages a team of portfolio managers credit officers and analysts. They may also coach employees support their development and manage poor performance.
  • Builds relationships with clients financial sponsors and intermediaries. They may also develop internal and external networks to grow business.
  • Ensures that loan agreements comply with approval documents and that credit processes meet prescribed tolerances. They may also ensure that underwriting is complete and consistent with credit policies.
  • Supports the commercial lending process through underwriting policy knowledge credit structuring and risk assessment in credit request packages in large and complex segments within wholesale lending or specialty lines of businesses. Ensure packages are complete accurate and thoroughly documented.
  • Analyzes and/or recommend adjustments to financial statement spreads.
  • Interacts with clients verbally and in writing on pending loan requests or portfolio management actions.
  • Stays informed of changing business and economic developments that impact the loan portfolio its profitability risk management and banking in general.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

General Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a financial institution with a focus on commercial and business banking as well as relationship management.
  • Bachelors in finance or other similar fields is preferred.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of credit guidelines procedures banking regulations and compliance requirements related to commercial lending.
  • A solid understanding of credit underwriting accounting and financial analysis is preferred. Credit analysis and loan documentation experience are essential.
  • Knowledge of the banks products and services is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of the markets within the banks footprint and overall banking needs is required.
  • Proven ability to recognize and focus on critical sales and service delivery issues and to balance and respond to competing roles and organizational needs.
  • Experience in credit policy analysis and regulatory practice would be helpful.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required to develop and grow relationships with current and prospective customers and employees.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs is preferred.

Physical & Mental Demands

Vision hearing speech movements require the use of wrists hands and/or fingers. Must be able to sit stand stoop bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work the days and hours required to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Quick thinking adaptability and exercise discretion when necessary.
