Finance Officer 8415 Maternity Cover temporary Contract until 30 September 2026 37 hours per week 38626 to 40476 per annum (Scale J) County Hall

We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team here at Norfolk County Council and play a key role in helping to deliver a first class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation.

Norfolk County Council are the main local authority for Norfolk providing services countywide to Norfolk residents. We take a lead in critical policy areas and we work in partnership with local businesses voluntary organisations and other local authorities in order to provide the people of Norfolk with excellent services.

Our Budgeting and Accounting Team are a critical part of our organisation providing support across the breadth of our services to ensure that were accountable as a council and that taxpayers are receiving the best possible value for money. Working in a large and complex environment currently going through a significant period of transformational change youll be part of a talented proactive team that makes a real difference and is able to support the continual evolution and long-term objectives of the council.

The role is full time and maternity cover until 30 September 2026.

The core focus of the role is to work closely with our services to support day to day budgeting and accounting requirements as well as working on a range of transformational change projects. As a local authority we are accountable to our tax-payers and its critical that we are able to maintain a high standard of professional accounting and that our finances and budgets are transparent and accurate. You could be working closely with any of our services but its anticipated that initially this role will support Adult Social Care.

To be considered for the role youll need a proven background as a Finance Officer or similar working as part of a finance team and youll be AAT qualified or part-qualified at CCAB level. Youll be competent providing both management and financial accounting functions youll be comfortable analysing financial and non-financial data and youll have experience supporting budget holders and their decision making. Youll also be keen to contribute towards the continual improvement and evolution of the finance function.
