This apprenticeship is part of Northwell Healths Autism at Work hiring efforts. Autistic or similarly neurodivergent candidates are encouraged to apply. Apprentices may have the opportunity for full-time employment upon successful completion of the 12-week apprenticeship program.

Pay Rate: $20/hour

Position Summary

The Sleep Services Administrative Apprentice will support various administrative tasks essential to the operation of our Sleep Services department. Recognizing the diverse strengths and interests of our apprentices we provide an inclusive and adaptable environment. Your specific responsibilities and projects will be tailored collaboratively to align with your individual career interests.

Responsibilities

  • Helping to manage departments shared emails and distribute incoming communications appropriately to staff

  • Supporting the processing and documentation of medical authorizations for sleep studies which includes:
    • Verifying document completeness
    • Obtaining missing information as needed
    • Submitting to insurers
    • Documenting all steps and outcomes

  • Assisting in the organization and management of incoming referrals

  • Participating in patient interaction through appointment reminders and paperwork assistance

  • Contributing to data entry organization and basic analysis to support department improvements

  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals and administrative staff on department tasks and special projects

  • Collaborating to help develop sleep education materials for the community

  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of department dashboards (Excel Power BI)

Skills and Interests

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook Teams)

  • Interest and/or understanding of Power BI or Google AI
