Description

M&P Engineers are expected to act as the technical authority on materials and processes particularly in adhesive bonding composite interfaces and metallic fastener integration. Materials and Process Engineers will lead R&D initiatives for new material systems surface treatments and joining technologies. Will draw on knowledge and experience with materials (metallic composite and non-metallic) fabrication finishing corrosion control test methodology project direction statistical analysis Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and repair techniques to guide activities and inform stakeholders.
This role requires a strong understanding of aerospace industry standards project management skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams. You will ensure that programs are executed efficiently within budget and in accordance with our high-quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the technical authority on materials and processes particularly in adhesive bonding composite interfaces and metallic fastener integration.
  • Lead R&D initiatives for new material systems surface treatments and joining technologies.
  • Evaluate and qualify adhesives sealants coatings and composite-compatible fasteners for aerospace applications.
  • Develop and maintain material and process specifications including test plans qualification protocols and manufacturing procedures.
  • Collaborate with design manufacturing quality and supply chain teams to ensure material compatibility and process robustness.
  • Support failure analysis and root cause investigations related to materials and bonding issues.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to ensure compliance with aerospace standards (e.g. ASTM SAE NADCAP AS9100).
  • Stay current with industry trends emerging technologies and regulatory changes in aerospace materials and processes.
  • Program Leadership:
  • Leadership skills clarity of vision conflict resolution skills and the resolve to complete a complex project with several moving parts.
  • Lead and manage aerospace fastener programs from inception through completion.
  • Develop and maintain program schedules budgets and resource plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams and external stakeholders.

Project Management:

  • Define program scope objectives and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Perform tests material evaluations and feasibility studies in accordance with program objectives.
  • Monitor program progress identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of program milestones.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Collaborate with engineering sales manufacturing quality assurance and supply chain teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Facilitate communication between teams to address any issues and ensure seamless program execution.
  • Quality and Compliance:
  • Ensure all program activities comply with aerospace industry regulations and standards.
  • Implement and oversee quality control processes to meet customer requirements and company standards.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular program updates and address any customer concerns or requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Analyze program performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance program management processes.
  • Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate Click Bond policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean orderly and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g. AS9100 NADCAP).
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g. MS Project Aras).
  • Thrives working in a dynamic ever-changing ambiguous environment. Can take on various roles and fill gaps to get the job done.
  • Exhibit ability to make the right decisions based on deep analysis experience and discernment. Seek and incorporate mentorship.
  • The ability to span from long-term strategic vision to tactical execution with ease.
  • Comfortable taking on any crisis moments. Encourages direct and tough debate and intuitively knows when to move on.
  • Ability to evaluate complex issues with multitude of factors and propose optimal solution(s).
  • Ability to read and write English.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Materials Science Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in aerospace materials engineering preferably in fastener or structural joining applications.
  • Deep knowledge of adhesive bonding surface preparation metallic and composite materials and corrosion protection.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards and qualification processes (e.g. MIL-STD ASTM AMS).
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (e.g. DSC TGA SEM FTIR).
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in roll of M&P Engineer within the aerospace or manufacturing industry. Experience specifically with aerospace fasteners is highly desirable.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with automated bonding processes robotic application systems or non-destructive evaluation (NDE).

  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) or materials modeling tools.
  • Prior involvement in patent development or technology road mapping.

  • Work primarily performed in a standard office environment. If in manufacturing areas it requires protective eyewear and/or hearing protection.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work primarily performed in a standard office environment. If in manufacturing areas may be exposed to noise smells heat dust etc. Work requires the observance of fire regulations and safe work practices.
