Job Description

The Council on Recovery seeks a community-oriented professional to serve as its Donor Relations & Volunteer Manager a vital role that bridges two essential functions: deepening community involvement and strengthening mid-level individual giving. This position is responsible for leading volunteer engagement efforts supporting outreach and fundraising events and cultivating lasting donor relationships. Through these activities this position will grow and sustain a robust volunteer-to-donor pipeline transforming community interest into meaningful long-term support for The Councils mission.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES


Volunteer Management & Engagement

  • Re-imagine and lead The Councils volunteer program including recruitment onboarding training scheduling and recognition.
  • Build partnerships with individuals corporate groups and the Board to expand volunteer involvement and create a volunteer-to-donor pipeline.
  • Ensure volunteer activities are mission-aligned meaningful and contribute to operational and strategic goals.

Individual Giving

  • Manage a portfolio and mid-level donors with a focus on donor acquisition cultivation solicitation and stewardship and retention.
  • Identify and implement strategies to convert first-time and event-based donors into recurring supporters.
  • Develop and execute personalized engagement plans in coordination with the Director of Development & Communications.
  • Track donor interactions and giving history to inform communications strategies and deepen relationships.

Events & Outreach

  • Plan and execute community engagement and donor cultivation events including volunteer recognition activities and small donor gatherings.
  • Support the execution of the bi-annual Speaker Series and other key fundraising events.

Development & Communications Support

  • Collaborate with the Planning & Development team to produce targeted donor communications and appeals.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer and donor interactions using The Councils volunteer and CRM databases.


Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit development community engagement volunteer management or individual giving.
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating volunteer programs managing events and cultivating individual donors.
  • Experience in developing and implementing donor stewardship strategies with a focus on mid-level giving preferred.
  • Experience working in a mission-driven or community-focused organization is highly desirable.
  • Strong project management organizational and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
