Post-Secondary School Education in medical secretary/medical transcription or equivalent combination of education (minimum of grade 12) and relative working experience.
Medical Terminology course completed through a recognized college.
Previous experience in booking diagnostic procedures and/or patient registration.
Must have demonstrated typing and other basic clerical skills including computer/word processing e-mail and faxing experience.
General knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures.
Must have good communication skills and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with physicians patients and other health care staff.
Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
For internal candidates disciplinary and attendance records will be considered.
Books appointments for patients and physicians offices for all diagnostic procedures.
Calls/faxes physicians offices with patient appointment times.
Calls emergency bookings as directed by technologists.
Answers general telephone booking inquires and reroutes calls as necessary.
When booking appointments informs patient and or physicians offices of the required patient preparation as indicated by departmental protocol.
Distributes received requisitions to the various sites.
Books preventative maintenance as directed by the Charge Technologist or Manager.
Rebooks patients as directed by the Charge Technologist or Manager.
Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with all co-workers and clients.
Demonstrates willingness to provide the highest quality service appropriate to the position based on the concept and philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
Ensures the security of all files related to bookings in accordance with department procedures to protect confidential information. Maintains confidentiality.
Performs other duties as requested by the Manager or delegate.
