POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation Engineer evaluates and recommends suppliers tools methods for automation equipment.
Work with manufacturing facilities and associates to implement best automation solutions. This position will be responsible for providing technical assistance on various problems relating to maintenance and operation of equipment and facilities. The Automation Engineer identifies and solves problems utilizing the concepts and tools of the continuous improvement problem solving process to reduce variation and improve reliability.
Additionally this position will interact with outside resources including contractors equipment vendors and supply vendors.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing leadership and coordination in the design modification adaptation and installation of process equipment in facilities.
Responsible for providing technical assistance and an interface function on various problems relating to maintenance and operation of equipment and facilities.
Responsible for providing technical assistance and an interface function on various problems relating to product quality and production processes.
Responsible for developing supporting and implementing strategies for health safety and environmental matters of automation systems and understand the impact on regulatory compliance issues.
Responsible for providing technical assistance and an interface function for work teams and related skills based training.
Responsible for interacting with and coordinating with outside resources including contractors equipment vendors and supply vendors for assigned projects.
Responsible for working within and help to develop the appropriate standards and procedures including but not limited to those required for production technical safety and environmental activities.
Responsible for providing leadership to implement a continuous improvement philosophy and support and/or participate in continuous improvement team activities.
Responsible for identifying and solve problems utilizing the concepts and tools of the continuous improvement problem-solving process to reduce variation and improve reliability.
Responsible for working effectively with other personnel and groups in a manner that fosters cooperation and considers customer/supplier relationships and the key principles of interpersonal interaction in all that is done.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE SKILLS & ABILITIES
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Ten (10) to Twelve (12) years of industry experience.
Four (4) to Six (6) years of Automation experience.
Application experience with automation in precision machine environments and with logic control systems.
Knowledge of automation systems pick and place part transportation systems and industrial robots.
