About the opportunity
Dawes is seeking a Senior Motor Underwriter to join a high-performing team and support the profitable growth of its Prestige Motor Insurance portfolio through broker partnerships. Reporting to the National Team Leader this role combines technical underwriting expertise with strong market engagement ensuring underwriting excellence effective risk assessment and portfolio management. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering innovative tailored insurance solutions supported by leading-edge technology while building and maintaining strong broker relationships to drive strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite motor policies by assessing risk pricing effectively and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and procedures.
- Manage the full policy lifecycle including new business renewals and endorsements to meet financial targets.
- Support and guide the underwriting team by acting as a referral point and providing coaching training and development.
- Foster strong relationships with brokers stakeholders and capital providers and represent the company at industry events.
- Promote a culture of compliance and performance by embedding best practices meeting service standards and aligning with strategic KPIs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Industry Expertise & Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of motor insurance products pricing models and risk assessment supported by strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making.
- Communication & Relationship Management: Excellent interpersonal communication and broker relationship-building skills with a strong customer service focus.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to interpret data and portfolio trends make informed business decisions and align actions with legal and regulatory standards.
- Professional Experience & Qualifications: Minimum 8 years in insurance (or 3 years in a senior role) with relevant industry qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Personal Attributes: Highly organized detail-oriented resilient proactive and a collaborative team player capable of managing high workloads independently.
