Job Description

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Department: Respiratory Care
Location: Athena Medtech
Shift: Nights 7:00 PM 7:30 AM Monday to Friday 3 shifts/week (36 hours total)

Position Summary:
Athena Medtech is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Respiratory Care team. This is a night-shift position offering 12-hour shifts three days per week. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of two years of experience and is committed to delivering high-quality respiratory care in both adult and pediatric settings.

Upon hire candidates must obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification through Loyola and will be trained to provide care in both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

  • Active RRT credential

  • Willingness to complete NRP certification upon hire

  • Experience in NICU/PICU settings preferred or willingness to train

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the appropriate type and frequency of respiratory treatment.

  • Develop implement and monitor individualized care plans based on patient diagnoses.

  • Operate and manage advanced respiratory care equipment.

  • Monitor record and communicate patient conditions to the care team.

  • Administer medications and evaluate outcomes based on treatment plans.

  • Provide education to patients and families regarding respiratory conditions home care strategies and available community resources.

  • Actively participate in emergency resuscitation efforts and respond to Code Blue situations as part of the rapid response team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience as a Traveler Registered Respiratory Therapist is a plus

  • Strong clinical documentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-acuity environments
