Job Summary:
This Certified Surgical Technologist position requires a minimum of two years of experience and proficiency in various surgical specialties. The role involves working in a fast-paced surgical environment with a high daily caseload requiring collaboration with the surgical team and adherence to strict aseptic techniques. The position includes potential on-call responsibilities and may require weekend and holiday work. Candidates must be prepared to work during catastrophic events or disasters as part of a Storm/Hurricane Team.
Location: Wilmington North Carolina United States
Responsibilities:
- Performing a wide range of surgical procedures across multiple specialties (General Vascular Neurosurgery Orthopedic Urology EENT OB/GYN Plastics OMF Trauma Dental Pediatric Neonatal and Endoscopy).
- Assisting with organ harvesting procedures.
- Utilizing specialized equipment including the DaVinci Robot.
- Maintaining a high level of aseptic technique and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborating effectively with the surgical team.
- Working in a high-volume surgical setting (80 daily cases 22 rooms).
- Participating in a Storm/Hurricane Team and potentially working during catastrophic events.
- Floating to different units as needed.
- Adhering to strict RTO policies.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Experience with all ages and various surgical specialties (Inpatient Trauma Scrub Aseptic Technique ENT General Ortho Ortho/Spine Urology Endo/Laparoscopic Vascular Thoracic Neuro Gyn Neuro/Spine).
- Proficiency in Ophthalmology (3-4 rating) with strong skills in Vascular/Neuro and Robotics.
- Current BLS and NBSTA certifications.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in Outpatient Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital Transplant Bariatrics Ophthalmology Plastics Podiatry Ortho/Total Joints settings.
- Experience with the DaVinci Robot.
Special Considerations:
- Potential for 1-2 twelve-hour call shifts every two weeks.
- Required weekend shifts as needed.
- Mandatory participation in Storm/Hurricane Team.
- Potential for reassignment to different units during the contract.
- RTO after booking is strictly prohibited and any deviations could result in cancellation.
- Mandatory float assignment as needed.
- Potential for centralized office consolidation mid-contract.
- Work during catastrophic events or mass casualty incidents is a requirement.
Scheduling:
- 3 twelve-hour day shifts.
- Shift assignment is determined by the manager.
- Weekend and on-call shifts are required as needed.
