Job Summary:
As a Design Engineering Specialist you will be a contributor to the planning concept development and design of complex components subsystems or processes within Caterpillars Defense will have the opportunity to perform analysis of concepts development and design of complex components subsystems or processes while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology and communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner.

What You Will Do:

• Develop design parameters performance characteristics and technical specifications of products and components that satisfy customer needs and advance safety quality velocity and cost.

• Guiding the evolution of the technical design technical project planning detail design and development testing. Participating in supplier selection and capabilities assessment.

• Monitoring exploring and testing new technologies materials and components to understand product or process improvement opportunities.

• Constructing and fabricating prototype equipment; overseeing materials selection process optimization and
  process yield as well as reliability testing and failure analysis.

• Collaborate with suppliers and monitor and evaluate supplier quality.

• Success factors for this position include strong communication spatial and conceptual design skills and an understanding of customers needs for specific product applications.

• Assist in the integration of ILS considerations into assigned programs.

• Work closely with and communicate concepts and results to customers suppliers team members and other business units.

Travel (domestic and international) is required up to 10% to monitor and resolve issues regarding customer satisfaction future product needs and oversee supplier and subcontractor execution and quality.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce analyze simulate and test product design drafts. Level Extensive Experience:

• Presents complex products and systems graphically.

• Directs the matrix computations performed to transform objects in coordinate space.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches techniques and tools; ability to design plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing. Level Extensive Experience:

• Coordinates execution of test plans including resources strategy schedules processes and tools.

• Collaborates with design team to ensure testing considerations are incorporated into system design.

• Recommends tools and techniques for automating simplifying and enhancing product testing.

• Compares and contrasts alternative testing methodologies and tools.

• Matches testing methodology and tools to product being tested; develops test scenarios and scripts.

• Estimates time effort and resources required for thorough testing.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches tools and techniques; ability to anticipate detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Education: Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field from an accredited engineering curriculum

Additional Information:

• Location: Griffin GA Lafayette IN or Peoria IL

• This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

• Relocation is not available for this position.
