Ahlstrom is now seeking candidates for an entry-level General Laborer opportunity at our unionized paper mill in Mount Holly Springs Pennsylvania. Mt. Holly Springs is within reasonable travel from Carlisle Harrisburg Shippensburg and other neighboring communities. Nearby attractions include Hershey Park the Gettysburg National Military Park the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and a number of historical landmarks. Ahlstrom is a leading global manufacturer of sustainable specialty paper products.

As a General Laborer on our Service Team you will provide coverage to all departments and shifts. You will not work a set schedule. Instead your schedule is assigned by your supervisor on a week-by-week basis. Therefore candidates for the General Laborer position must have the availability to work any shift within any department.

As a General Laborer you will earn $21.17/hour to start. Then after a 70-day training period you will join the union become eligable for benefits and earn $21.70/hour when working as a general laborer or up to $25.31/hour depending on the job you are filling in for.

The Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities of this role include:

Use proper protective equipment as needed and directed follow all safety rules and regulations and actively work through continuous improvements to improve safety.
Maintain quality and focus on continuous quality improvements.
Meet productivity targets and focus on productivity improvements.
Ability to train learn and operate in multiple areas of the plant
Perform roll packaging to prepare order for shipment as required
Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by Supervisor.
Perform minor maintenance when required.
Must successfully complete any required training program.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Occupational Requirements:

Hight School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Willing and available to work any shift including rotating shifts and weekends
Prior manufacturing experience preferred but training is available
Must pass non-D.O.T. physical and other screenings
Must be willing to comply with OSHAs facial hair length and styles guidelines.
Must have a valid drivers license and own personal reliable vehicle to travel to and from work and between buildings.
Ability to read write use simple math and read a ruler.
Dedication to safety and quality; operate equipment accurately and properly

Physical Occupational Requirements:

Must pass post-offer drug screenings and physical
Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Work at heights and near rapidly moving machinery
Operate lift-truck and hoists
Work in a hot and humid environment
