Title: School NurseReports to: PrincipalLocation:Josiah Haynes Elementary SchoolPosition Summary: The School Nurse provides health services to students and school personnel including but not limited to administering medications performing ordered treatments caring for illness critical decision-making in emergency situations maintaining confidentiality and documentation in accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws and the policies and procedures of the Sudbury Public Schools. Key Duties & Responsibilities:Assess and evaluate students health pertinent family history and home factors Counsel students parents and school personnel about health problems and issues;Maintain appropriate health records;Conduct and evaluate school health programs;Notify appropriate individuals of immediate and potential health related problems;Coordinate health resources of school home community and allied health agencies/hospitals by making necessary arrangements maintaining records notifying and counseling students parents/guardians and health personnel;Develop and implement student health care plans;Documents pertinent information in student records;Maintain medical supplies and make recommendations for purchase;Provide emergency care for all individuals on school premises in the event of injury or sudden illness;Administer medication to students with parent/guardian and physician consent;Perform mandated screenings in vision hearing scoliosis TB testing and other health related activities as deemed appropriate by state and city departments of public health;Provide information about health and disease prevention in cooperation with health education programs;Participate in school health related activities as deemed appropriate for school nurse by principal/supervisor;Act as a resource in health education to students and families;Initiate promote maintain and implement programs for the recognition prevention and control of disease including giving immunizations;Other related duties as : Sudbury School Nurses Association Unit Position Schedule:187 days (1.0 FTE)Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
