Summary of Job Duties:
This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Medical Laboratory Scientists in the HLA laboratory perform a variety of technical procedures including HLA typing by rSSO and next generation sequencing methods Luminex based HLA Antibody identification and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a chemical biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
- Must have ASCP certification or equivalent OR obtain certification within 1 year of eligibility or hire date whichever is sooner
- Must be able to identify and report abnormal test results as well as communicate and interact with reviewing Pathologists and submitting clinicians. Must be able to work independently multi-task and make subjective decisions. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or clinical laboratory science
- Previous clinical laboratory experience
- CHT (ABHI) or CHS (ABHI) certification

Requirements:
They are expected to keep all instrumentation in good working order and identify and notify the supervisor or lead tech of instrument malfunctions.
They should be able to aid in instrument repair.
They should be able to identify abnormal or discrepant results.
They will have limited participation in student teaching and assisting of other personnel rotating through the section. They will have limited administrative duties.
