Glue Spread Lay-Up
BENEFITS: Medical Dental Vision 401K
AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Glue Spread Lay-Up to be located in Somerset KY. Reporting to the Production Manager this position is responsible for laying-up core and veneer squarely and correctly to ensure quality product is sent to the Press. Assist in performing clean up and preventative maintenance on the Glue Spreaders.
JOB DUTIES:
- Always follow all safety guidelines in order to eliminate accidental injury.
- Maintain property plant and equipment to support and improve the safe production and performance of operations.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement and provide suggestions to improve processes and participate in team projects.
- Check squareness of spreader at the start of each shift.
- Must rotate position with other spreader employees every two hours.
- Always put blank down on roller lift table to start pallet.
- Keep watch on glue spread.
- Lay-up veneer squarely against backstop.
- Keep all sheet joints as close as possible.
- Keep all broken veneer together as close as possible.
- Watch face/back pallets for orientation and correctly sorted.
- Push off full pallets onto the roller transfer conveyor.
- Verify tickets/material is correct on each pallet before use.
- Pull tickets from each pallet and turn in to the Glue Mix Operator after each product run.
- Clean spreaders when downtime permits.
- Help clean and do PMs on maintenance day.
- Always use Lock Out/Tag Out procedures when cleaning or doing PMs.
- Throw away any core veneer that does not have a good glue spread.
- Any trash veneer must be separated and placed in the correct dumpster.
- Always slow down glue rolls at breaks and lunch.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- No Diploma or GED is required.
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- The ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Able to follow established policies and procedures.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Able to demonstrate practical problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment on assigned projects/tasks and report to supervision the status of each as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently push pull carry and lift up to 50lbs.
- Continuous walking standing stretching bending stooping twisting reaching grasping and repetitive movements
- Frequently talk hear read write and comprehend the English language

- Must be able to work in constant moderate noise up to 83 decibels.
