13 weeks Varied 8-hour shift 40 hours weekly

Provides safe quality patient care in the Intraoperative area. Accountable for assessing planning implementing and coordinating patient care during the intraoperative period.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document. To this end employees will be expected to read have familiarity with and embrace the principles contained within.
- Assesses patient status during pre-op interview and continuingly.
- Provides safe therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis promptly and by setting appropriate priorities. Document interventions and patients responses.
- Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.
- Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
- Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information including surgeons anesthesia management and other staff.
- Safely carries out the physicians orders correctly and promptly documenting all activities.
- Assists Anesthesia staff as needed.
- Displays an understanding of each patients cognitive physical emotional and chronological maturity in assessments treatment and care.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new employees.
- Maintains competencies to function in the RN role within a specific area.
- Protects sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards such as electrical equipment and pressure points and by minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature.
- Expertise in safety principles asepsis sterile technique and universal precautions.
- Assesses anticipates and implements appropriate care throughout the surgical process.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year OR experience; multispecialty preferred; CNOR preferred.
- One (1) or more years of experience in an acute care hospital; preferred.
Education:
- A graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing is expected
Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:
- Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR certification ACLS or ability to obtain ACLS within six (6) months of hire date
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
- PALS certification preferred
EMR System: Athena experience preferred
Shift: Day Shift between the hours of 0630 - 1500 or 0800 - 1630 M-F. No Call or Weekends.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to manage emergencies in a calm and confident manner
- Demonstrated flexibility and leadership with unscheduled procedure changes
- Organize prioritize delegate and assign duties to non-licensed personnel
- Maintain skills in equipment usage and troubleshooting
- Complete knowledge and understanding of peri-operative nursing care in the freestanding ambulatory surgery center
- Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process
- Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care
- Ability to work well with providers clinical staff and patients
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy fast-paced environment while maintaining the quality of work
- Adhere to all policies and procedures including but not limited to standards for confidentiality Infection Control Safety (OSHA) Attendance Personal Electronic Equipment Punctuality and Personal Appearance.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities including identification of opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies.
